Two men robbed a market Monday and shot a clerk in the face, critically injuring him, police said.

The clerk, whose name was not released, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in critical condition Monday night but was expected to survive, Buena Park Police Sgt. Ken Coovert said.

The two men entered K and C Market in the 8400 block of Western Avenue just before 2:30 p.m., Coovert said, shot the victim and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. Though no customers were in the store at the time of the robbery, several bystanders saw the men flee in a peach- or champagne-colored Acura, Coovert said. They were last seen driving north on Western Avenue, he said.

“It doesn’t sound like it’s their first time,” Coovert said of the robbers.

Buena Park police asked Monday night that anyone with information about the incident call officers at (714) 562-3902.
