Johnson Not in the Mood for Music
Randy Johnson told a radio station Monday that his June 3 fight with teammate David Segui started over loud music.
No punches were thrown in the July 10 pregame clubhouse fight, but Segui sprained his right wrist and missed a game.
Johnson said he was entertaining guests in front of his locker when Segui turned up a nearby stereo. Johnson said he asked sarcastically, “Could the stereo be any louder?” Sequi responded just as sarcastically. Witnesses said that’s when Johnson charged him. “I haven’t been in the mood to hear that kind of stuff,” Johnson said.
Cal Ripken did not play in the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in the 52nd annual Hall of Fame game at Cooperstown, N.Y.
Because the game was an exhibition, Ripken’s consecutive game streak, which stands at 2,583, was unaffected.
