United Wins in a Shootout, 3-2

Carey Talley scored the deciding shootout goal as D.C. United posted a 3-2 Major League Soccer victory over the Tampa Bay Mutiny before 11,062 at Washington.

Mutiny midfielder Mauricio Ramos tied the score, 2-2, sent the game into a shootout with his goal in the 88th minute. United (19-5), which outscored the Mutiny, 4-3, in the shootout, has won six straight games.

Tampa Bay (6-17) played the second half with a man advantage after United defender Jeff Agoos was ejected in the 43rd minute.

Colorado 3, New England 1--Paul Bravo scored the winning goal in the 66th minute at Foxboro, Mass., and Colorado (11-10) handed New England (6-16) its league-record eighth straight loss at home before 13,074.

New York/New Jersey 3, Kansas City 2 (shootout)--Tab Ramos and Giovanni Savarese scored shootout goals and goalie Tony Meola made two big saves late in regulation and two more in the shootout to lead the MetroStars (12-9) to victory over the Wizards (9-12) before 10,624 at East Rutherford, N.J.

Miami 3, Columbus 2--Marcelo Herrera scored two goals and the Fusion (10-11) won its second in a row under new Coach Ivo Wortmann, before 8,182 at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Jeff Cunningham scored in the 64th and 82nd minutes for Columbus (9-11).

San Jose 3, Chicago 0--Goalkeeper David Kramer led the Clash (8-13) to its fifth shutout of the season in a game before 12,299 at San Jose. The Fire fell to 13-9.
