Lemieux Says He Won’t Be Coming Back
Mario Lemieux, who is threatening to sue Pittsburgh Penguin co-owner Roger Marino for deferred salary owed him, says he has no hard feelings and won’t play for any other team.
Lemieux laughed off published reports in Canada that he might end his one-year retirement.
“Nope, no chance,” Lemieux said. “I played for one team my entire career. That’s what I wanted.”
The Penguins owe Lemieux about $24 million in deferred compensation under the $42-million contract he signed in 1992.
“I just want what’s owed to me,” Lemieux said.--Associated Press
