Share

Helen L. Matson, a homemaker, world traveler and 29-year Santa Paula resident, died of a lengthy illness Friday. She was 89.

Born in South Bend, Ind., on April 22, 1909, Matson traveled across the country and all over the world.

She did not have a favorite country or city, said her daughter, Joan Robison.

“She enjoyed them all,” Robison said.

Matson was a simple, thoughtful woman. “She was raised in a different time,” Robison said. “She was just a very simple, loving person.”
