Four JetHawks Are Selected to Cal League All-Star Game

Four Lancaster JetHawks were selected to play in the California League all-star game June 16 at The Hangar. The 22-player rosters for the Valley Division and Freeway Division teams were determined by the managers.

First baseman-outfielder Brendan Kingman, who leads the league with a .374 batting average, heads the Lancaster contingent for the Valley team.

Also chosen were second baseman Adonis Harrison, who is batting .349, first baseman Cirilo Cruz Jr., who is batting .296 with a league-leading 40 runs batted in, and right-handed pitcher Brian Sweeney, who is 6-0 with 3.02 earned-run average.

Lancaster Manager Rick Burleson and his coaches, Jim Slaton and Doug Saunders, and trainer Troy McIntosh head the Valley squad.

Former Pepperdine infielder Nick Leach of San Bernardino will play for the Freeway Division team.

The Hangar's gates will open at 3:30 on the day of the game. A skills competition and home run derby will precede the game, which is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.
