Reward Offered in Liquor Store Holdup

Ventura County Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who robbed a Newbury Park liquor store at gunpoint.

According to police, a young white male entered the Cask and Wine Shop in the 3300 block of Kimber Drive about 2 p.m. Thursday and casually walked to the back of the store.

He then approached the front counter and, brandishing a handgun, told the clerk to hand over the money from the register.

The clerk complied and the suspect fled with the beer and money.

No one was injured.

A helicopter search of the area failed to locate the suspect, who is described as in his 20s with brown hair and a medium build. Witnesses said he was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
