Pete Montrenes

Ocean View, Senior; Baseball/Pitcher

He ended his high school career with his 12th victory this season, winning a complete game, 9-3, to help unseeded Ocean View upset defending champion La Quinta in the Southern Section Division III final Saturday at Dodger Stadium. Montrenes, who pitched three no-hitters this season, gave up seven hits and no walks and struck out six.

* Brea Olinda, junior. Shot two-under-par 70 to finish second at the CIF-SCGA finals at the SCGA Members’ Club in Murrieta.

Santosh Swamidass/Track and Field

* El Modena, senior. Cleared 6 feet 6 inches to finish tied for third in the high jump at the state championships.

Al Williams/Track and Field

* Irvine, senior. Won the 300 hurdles (37.17 seconds) in the state championships at Cerritos College.
