Oxnard police were searching Thursday for a gunman who wounded a 15-year-old boy the night before as he stood in front of an apartment building.
The boy was shot in the thigh about 8 p.m. in the 700 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard. He left the scene, but police later found him in the emergency room at St. John’s Regional Medical Center. His wound was not life-threatening.
Police Sgt. Tom Chronister said witnesses offered varying accounts, including three different descriptions of the suspect’s vehicle.
“It may be gang-related,” Chronister said of the shooting. “People are not being as cooperative as we would hope.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 385-TALK.
