An 11-year-old girl remained in critical condition Monday following a head-on traffic collision on Santa Susana Pass Road, authorities said.

Nida Ali of Pakistan was being treated at Simi Valley Hospital for head injuries suffered in the crash, a nursing supervisor said.

Nida was one of four people in a late-model Honda traveling west on a curvy stretch of Santa Susana Pass Road about 5 p.m. Sunday. The Honda’s driver, Atif Syed, 20, of Chatsworth, was apparently going faster than the 45 mph speed limit and lost control, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Syed crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a convertible 1935 Ford driven by Gary Brewer, 48, of Pacific Palisades, the CHP said.

All five people in the crash were treated for injuries, but only Nida remained hospitalized Monday, officials said.
