Free Breast Cancer Screenings Offered
The YWCA will offer a roving breast cancer detection clinic beginning Thursday at the Orange Senior Center for low-income women 40 and older.
Studies compiled by the YWCA have shown that annual screenings can reduce breast cancer deaths by 35% or more. Health agencies expect about 1,500 women in Orange County to be diagnosed with the disease this year.
The EncorePLUS early detection program offered by the YWCA offers a free mammogram, a breast exam and instructions in performing self-exams.
Women who qualify will have a monthly income of no more than $1,227 if single or maximum monthly earnings of $2,467 if part of a family of four.
The program is offered countywide at the following times and locations:
* Thursday, Orange Senior Center at 170 S. Olive St.
* Friday, Laguna Beach Community Clinic, 362 3rd St.
* Friday, St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church, 12432 9th St., Garden Grove.
* Sunday, Grace Korean Church, 400 W. Freedman Way, Anaheim.
