Fernando Tatis hit a three-run homer, Juan Gonzalez had a two-run shot and former Giant Will Clark added a solo blast on Friday as the Texas Rangers defeated the San Francisco Giants, 7-3, for their fourth victory in a row.

Gonzalez’s 24th homer increased his major league-leading RBI total to 96, more than halfway to Hack Wilson’s record of 190 in 1930.

Darren Oliver (4-5), activated from the 15-day disabled list earlier in the day, gave up three runs on seven hits over six innings. John Wetteland struck out Barry Bonds for the final out to pick up his 22nd save.

The Giants took a 2-0 lead in the first on Chris Jones’ bases-loaded single. But Tatis hit his second home run, a two-out shot to left-center off Orel Hershiser (6-6), to put the Rangers ahead, 3-2, in the fourth.

The Giants, who have lost three in a row, tied the score at 3 in the sixth on Rich Aurilia’s home run off Oliver.

The Rangers came back in the seventh when Rusty Greer’s RBI single sparked a four-run rally. Greer scored on Gonzalez’s homer off Hershiser, and Clark added his 11th homer, off reliever John Johnstone.

After winning six in a row, Hershiser has lost three of his last four starts. He gave up six runs on nine hits over 6 1/3 innings, with five strikeouts and three walks.

Clark has not played in San Francisco’s windy ballpark since the 1993 season, after which he signed with the Rangers. For his first at-bat in the second inning, Clark was greeted with a standing ovation. He tipped his helmet to the crowd.

“The thing I can’t deny is that this is the club I got my start with,” he said. “But I’ve also moved on. The second part of my baseball career is in Texas.”
