Sarah McLachlan is a force to be reckoned with--talented, focused, strong (“They Said She Couldn’t Do It,” by Robert Hilburn, June 21). Lilith Fair is first a success because she nurtured the dream seed within her.
Although I applaud her magnanimity, I think it would be a mistake to include men as headliners in future fairs. Some ideas are so sound and so wise, they are meant to stay their original course. It would not box Lilith in but keep her open for more women artists. We have proven we can command front and center. Let’s stay there.

The woodsy photo of Sarah McLachlan leaning against a trail bike on Calendar’s cover is certainly attractive, but are we really to believe that she goes cycling in the platform sandals she has on? I don’t think so.
