Schwartz Wins Cup at Speedway Racing
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the Jack Milne Cup championship race at the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program in front of 5,927 Saturday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
In a four-lap race, Schwartz won the trophy Milne originally won in 1937 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Charlie Venegas of San Bernardino was second and Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano was third.
Oxley had received the cup from Milne as a gift about 25 years ago and put it up as prize to honor Milne, who died in 1995.
Chris Manchester of Rancho Cucamonga was fourth and Josh Larsen of Monrovia was fifth.
Bryan Thompson of Bakersfield won the five-lap support main event.
