The Volunteer Center Assistance League of Southern California is seeking people to staff a hotline for abused women and to speak at schools as part of a Violence Prevention Team. Volunteers must be available Thursday afternoons for training.

The center is at 8134 Van Nuys Blvd., Suite 200, Panorama City. Volunteers are needed to help set up, maintain and dismantle exhibits during a health fair. Volunteers also are needed to lead hikes and lecture on the ecology, history, management and activities on the Santa Monica Mountains. Burbank’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is seeking people 55 and older who know about string instruments such as violins, violas or cellos to assist a teacher at Burbank High School, 925 North 3rd St. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 11:20 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. For more information, contact Dee Call at the Joslyn Adult Center at (818) 238-5370.

The New Performing Arts Center at Cal State Northridge is looking for volunteers to usher shows, help publicize events and organize special programs and events. The next meeting is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center lobby. The Valley Trauma Center, which provides sexual assault crisis services, is seeking volunteers to staff its 24-hour crisis hotline. The center provides a 60-hour training program for volunteers. For more information, contact the center at (818) 772-0196.
