Perreault Needed to Pick Up Scoring

With Luc Robitaille now considered out for the rest of the regular season, the Kings will need Yanic Perreault to regain his scoring touch.

Although Perreault leads the team with 22 goals, King Coach Larry Robinson has not been happy with his play of late.

“He hasn’t played the way he’s capable of playing since the [Kings’ 1-0 win at Chicago on Dec. 22],” Robinson said. “I don’t know what’s wrong with him, but the biggest thing is that he’s lost that second effort. When somebody checks him, he doesn’t fight through and as a result, he’s always on the offensive side of everything. He’s never in position to get the puck back.

“That’s what concerns me, but he’s also our leading goal-scorer. We’re disappointed but we know the capability is there. We just have to get him going.”

Defenseman Garry Galley returned to the lineup Monday night in the Kings’ 2-2 tie against Vancouver after missing three games in a row because of a knee contusion. . . . Highly regarded prospect Pavel Rosa, who has been sidelined most of the season because of post-concussion syndrome, has been cleared to resume skating and did some light work with the team over the weekend.
