Forum Offers Look at Justice System

Share

Oxnard and Port Hueneme area residents will have a chance next week to learn more about the criminal justice system.

A forum sponsored by the Ventura County Coordinated Courts will consist of justice system panel members answering questions from community residents who attend or who watch on local TV.

The forum, the second in a series, is designed to provide the public with a better understanding of how cases flow through the courts, said Vince Ordonez Jr., spokesman for the Ventura County Superior and Municipal courts.

The forum will be from 7 to 9 p.m. March 11 in the Oxnard City Council Chambers, 305 W. 3rd St. Oxnard and Port Hueneme area residents also may view the forum on Channel 17.

Panelists will include judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys along with representatives from the Sheriff’s Department, Oxnard Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.

The first forum was held last month in Simi Valley, and others are scheduled for Thousand Oaks on April 16 and Camarillo on June 15. A date for a forum in Ventura has not been set. Another in Oxnard, for Spanish speakers, also is planned.
