Zoning Change Allows Day Center for Alzheimer’s Patients to Be Built

Share

An Alzheimer’s day care center received approval this week under City Council action.

The council agreed to a zoning change that will allow Adult Based Services of Orange County to build the center at Bushard Street and Indianapolis Avenue.

Construction will begin in April, with the project expected to be completed in October, said Cordula Dick-Muehlke, the agency’s executive director.

The 20,000-square-foot center will be equipped to care for about 100 Alzheimer’s patients. The center will offer activities for patients during the day, in turn providing caretakers with needed time off, she said.

The center will be available to Alzheimer’s patients living in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa.
