City Task Force to Address Seniors Issues
City officials have agreed to create a task force that would identify and address long-term issues related to the city’s burgeoning senior citizen population.
Although the number of seniors in the city is unknown, the population is expected to increase greatly over the next few years, city officials said.
Officials said that Brea is attracting retirees, and several developers of senior housing have identified the city as a growing market.
The task force will be charged with determining and analyzing:
* Brea’s projected senior population through 2018.
* Policy issues, including the city’s role in creating senior services.
* Partnerships and programs that will address the needs of seniors now and in the future.
