Mission College Offers Accelerated Programs

Share

Enrollment is now underway at Mission College for two programs that enable working adults to receive their associate degrees in less time than usually required.

Mission’s Program for Accelerated College Education, or PACE, consists of five intensive nine-week semesters per year. In one program, classes are held one night per week and on Saturdays. The other program consists of Saturday classes only.

The new semesters for the two Pace programs begin next Monday and March 21.

“This is an ideal program for someone who doesn’t have the time to go to class on a regular schedule for 18 weeks,” said PACE director Gina La Monica, referring to the standard length of a Mission College semester. “These students have to be self-motivated and willing to study on their own because of the limited class time.”

Because PACE is year-round, students can complete their requirements to transfer to a four-year university in two years, La Monica said.

PACE offers associate degrees in business, teaching, health science and other subjects.

Enrollment for the new PACE sessions must be completed by the first day of classes, La Monica said. Enrollment fees are $13 per unit. Most courses are three units.
