City to Install Les Bronte as Mayor for 1-Year Term

Beverly Hills will install its 39th mayor tonight when Les Bronte, 62, replaces MeraLee Goldman.

Tom Levyn will take office as vice mayor, said city spokeswoman Donna Reyes. The mayor’s office is rotated annually among the City Council’s five members, who serve four-year terms.

Bronte was elected to the Beverly Hills City Council in April 1994. Previously, he served on the city Traffic and Parking Commission and presided over the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce Civic Assn.

A 40-year resident of Beverly Hills, Bronte is the owner of ARC, a textile products manufacturer and importer.

The installation will be held at 7 p.m. in front of City Hall, 455 North Rexford Drive.
