Share

About 400 city volunteers will be recognized March 19 at the 18th annual “Puttin’ on the Ritz for Volunteers” banquet at the Anaheim Convention Center.

More than 800 volunteers and guests are expected to attend the private event.

The recognition banquet, costing about $20,000 and paid with donations solicited from businesses, will feature dinner and entertainment.

The hundreds of volunteers, businesses and local service clubs that support the city’s community programs will be honored.

The monetary value of their nearly 103,900 volunteer hours and contributed services, products and donations is $659,000.

But city officials said that the true value of the volunteers, businesses and community groups is in their commitment to promote social welfare and to combat community deterioration.

Volunteer support has included providing events and services to assist in gang-prevention programs, helping the elderly and disabled, and promoting environmental awareness.
