Lukas Says He’ll Fight Suspension
“If there’s a fine, I’ll pay it and move on with my life,” trainer Wayne Lukas said. “If they try to give me days [a suspension], I’ll fight it to the Supreme Court.”
Lukas won the Santa Ysabel Stakes with Love Lock at Santa Anita and finished second in another race with Magic Cat on Jan. 11, but both horses tested positive for scopolamine, a prohibited drug that can be a depressant.
The stewards will conduct a hearing on March 20. Love Lock’s victory was worth $63,660.
