PUC Orders Edison to Refund $65 Million
The California Public Utilities Commission ordered Southern California Edison to refund $65 million to its customers to cover certain costs associated with contracts to purchase Canadian gas that have since been canceled. The refund order is the result of a settlement last year between Edison and the PUC’s Office of Ratepayer Advocates. The one-time refund will be given to all Edison customers, except those who receive special rates. The refunds will be made as a credit on the March or April bill, and the amount will depend on the size of the customer’s bill. A residential customer with an average bill of $65 a month will see a $7 credit.
