175 Students Try Life at City Hall

About 175 local high school students recently participated in the 29th annual Youth in Government Day at City Hall, getting a firsthand look at the workings of municipal government.

The event, held March 4, matched students from 14 high schools with city employees and administrators.

Senior Enrique Barajas of Gilbert East High School, who was the student mayor, received the Youth of the Year Scholarship for his community service. The $400 award is sponsored by the Anaheim Evening Lions Club.

Finalists Jaclyn Zimmerman, a senior at Savanna High, and Jaqueline Hurtado, a senior at Anaheim High, each received a $100 scholarship.
