Attractions Mulled for Fairgrounds Swap Meet
A proposal to add an automotive museum and other attractions to the weekend swap meet at the Orange County Fairgrounds will soon be considered by fair directors.
Tel-Phil Enterprises, which operates the Orange County Marketplace, has proposed the museum, a takeout food court and a produce mart to attract more shoppers.
Annual attendance, at 1.5 million, is down from a high of 3 million in 1991.
The Orange County Fair Board of Directors asked the company this week to hire an environmental consultant to review the proposal, fair General Manager Becky Bailey-Findley said.
The environmental review may take two to six months, she said. Fair directors will consider the proposal after the consultant makes a recommendation.
