Curtis Joseph stopped 23 shots for his second consecutive shutout, his sixth of the season and 17th of his career as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Florida Panthers, 4-0, on Friday.

The loss extends the Panthers’ franchise-record losing streak to eight and matches their longest winless streak at 10 (0-9-1). Their 34th loss is a franchise high.

Ryan Smyth and Boris Mironov scored power-play goals, Mironov’s coming during a two-man advantage.

Greg Devries added an even-strength goal--his first goal since Dec. 23--in the second period to stake Edmonton to a 3-0 lead.

Doug Weight, who wasn’t expected to play after spraining his left shoulder March 9, made the score 4-0 at 5:29 of the third with a slap shot from the slot.

“It’s great to get on a roll before the playoffs,” said Joseph, who stopped 20 shots in a 2-0 shutout of Tampa Bay on Wednesday. “The last couple of games we’re playing outstanding defensively and limiting them to one shot.”
