Former Teacher Pleads Guilty in Sex Case
A former teacher at a private Ojai prep school has pleaded guilty to three counts of having unlawful sex with a minor--a 17-year-old student who is pregnant with their child.
James Eric Woodstock Jr., 31, who was a religion teacher at the school, could receive up to seven years in state prison when he is sentenced April 30.
“The facts of this particular case are egregious when you consider his position and the violation of trust,” said prosecutor Linda Groberg.
In exchange for Woodstock’s guilty plea Wednesday, which included a special allegation of inflicting great bodily injury by causing the pregnancy, another four counts of unlawful sex with a minor were dropped.
Woodstock had what Ventura County sheriff’s deputies described as a consensual sexual relationship with the unidentified girl at his Ventura home last November.
