I hope Mike Downey’s replacement on the sports beat is a positivist like Jim Murray rather than a negativist like Bill Plaschke. I can remember when The Times sports section was a delight to read, but lately it seems to have been bitten by the tabloid bug. Please, take this opportunity to return sports to its former glory.
