Titans Upset Oklahoma St. in Softball

Cal State Fullerton’s Jana Oetgen, facing her former teammates, pitched a no-hitter as the Titans upset fourth-ranked Oklahoma State, 1-0, in the Kia Klassic softball tournament at Cal State Fullerton.

Oetgen, a junior, one of four transfers from Oklahoma State on the team, struck out five in the pool-play victory for the Titans (14-13). First baseman Stacy Pierson drove in left fielder Wendi Griffin in the bottom of the fourth for the Titans.

In a first-round game later in the evening, the Titans lost to San Diego State, 3-0. The Titans will play Nevada Las Vegas at 3 today in a consolation game.

In the Redlands softball tournament:

Concordia 2, Redlands 0--Dana Gall had two hits, a run scored and an RBI for Concordia, in its third game of the day. Catcher Kelly Kimberlee added one hit and an RBI for the Eagles. In earlier games, Concordia (12-8-1) tied George Fox, 3-3, and lost to San Diego, 9-5.

In the Sun West softball tournament:

Chapman 5, Central (Iowa) 4 (9)--Dawn Lopez hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth, giving Chapman (15-2) the victory. Central (8-6) scored four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the score at 4-4. Stephanie Carew hit her seventh home run of the year and on the mound Katie Lacy improved to 6-0.

In nonconference baseball:

North Central (Ill.) 5, Chapman 1--Robert O’Brien hit his seventh home run of the season for Chapman (15-6), which had a seven-game winning streak ended.
