Ottawa Paper Has Gauthier Replacing Ferreira

Share

If Jack Ferreira’s job is indeed in jeopardy, would Pierre Gauthier be a logical replacement as Duck general manager?

A headline over a story quoting unnamed sources Sunday in the tabloid Ottawa Sun read:

“Lame Duck GM.”

No one in the Duck organization has said publicly Ferreira will be out after five seasons on the job. Team President Tony Tavares recently said he will evaluate Ferreira’s performance at season’s end.

And Gauthier, who was the first assistant general manager in Anaheim, has two seasons remaining on his contract as Ottawa’s general manager.

Gauthier was unavailable for comment Sunday, but the story, circulating in Canada for the last week, makes sense.

Tavares is believed to be frustrated by Ferreira’s lack of organizational skills. Tavares admires Gauthier because he is so organized.

Plus, Gauthier and Coach Pierre Page worked together with the Quebec Nordiques.
