Police, Fire Stations to Receive Improvements
- Share via
The City Council plans to spend more than $182,000 to upgrade the fire and police stations--a move city officials hope will buy more time to determine how much it would cost to build facilities for both agencies.
The fire station will receive improved dormitories, shower facilities and electrical fixtures. Improvements to the police station will include additional work stations for officers, an expanded squad room and a locker room for supervisors and officers.
In addition, the Police Department will receive funds to purchase and renovate a mobile trailer that will be converted into office space.
Over the years, the facilities that house the two departments have deteriorated. Plans to upgrade the two buildings will provide the two departments with much needed space while city officials review conceptual plans to build new fire and police stations.
