2 Killed in Traffic Accident Identified
Ventura County coroner’s officials on Monday released the names of two people killed in a weekend traffic accident.
Fatally injured in the accident were Jose Zavala, 20, of Fillmore and Angela Morales, 16, of Santa Paula. A 17-year-old from Fillmore who was traveling with the pair and critically injured remained unidentified.
The three were riding in a station wagon that was hit by a truck carrying bees about 9:15 p.m. Sunday on California 23 near the Bardsdale area of Fillmore. Rescue workers were stung numerous times while trying to reach the victims.
Zavala and Morales died at the scene, officials said.
The truck driver, who authorities also did not identify, was not seriously injured in the accident.
