Master’s Sweeps Past Menlo

Eric Fuller pitched a one-hitter in the first game and Aaron Penberthy had three hits, including a three-run home run, in the second to help The Master’s College sweep Menlo, 5-1 and 12-1, in a college baseball doubleheader Wednesday at Menlo.

The Mustangs (21-5) swept the three-game series with Menlo (8-10).

Fuller struck out seven and walked two in the first game and Preston Sprinkle had three hits and three runs batted in for Master’s.

Penberthy had four RBIs and scored three runs for the Mustangs in the second game.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Royal d. Camarillo, 15-3, 15-5, 15-1--Steve Russell had six kills and Cam Dixon converted all five of his kill attempts for the Highlanders (5-0, 4-0) in a Marmonte League match at Royal.

Newbury Park d. Agoura, 15-4, 15-12, 15-11--Jon Enke had eight kills and four blocks, and Casey Patterson had 32 assists for the Panthers (5-1, 5-0) in a Marmonte League match at Agoura.

Van Nuys d. North Hollywood, 15-12, 15-6, 15-9--Ionnis Avramis collected 13 kills, 10 blocks and 15 digs, and Tetsuya Kosaka had seven kills and 15 digs for the Wolves (5-1, 3-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Van Nuys.

Poly d. Monroe, 15-13, 15-13, 16-14--Gilbert Ramos had 24 kills and 18 assists for the Parrots (5-1, 3-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Monroe.

Grant d. Canoga Park, 15-9, 15-13, 4-15, 11-15, 15-12--Ronald Ruiz had 21 kills and five blocks to help the Lancers (4-2, 1-2) rally in the final game of a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Canoga Park.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Louisville 129, Alemany 33--Kim Feig of Louisville (4-0) won the 100-yard freestyle in 56.30 seconds, the 100 backstroke in 1:08.11 and swam legs on the victorious 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams in the Mission League opener at Alemany.
