Two men convicted of the execution-style killings of two people in a Huntington Beach mobile home were sentenced Friday to life in prison without possibility of parole.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Richard Weatherspoon handed down the maximum sentence for Travis S. Fredericksen, 27, and Richard D. Fleck, 33, who were convicted in January of killing Michelle Acuna Lawson, 32, and Joshua Wells, 20.

Lawson did not live at the mobile home park, but was visiting Wells and his two roommates.

Fleck and Fredericksen went to the mobile home looking for one of Wells’ roommates, who had argued with Fleck over drugs, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Dan McNerney.

The defense argued during the trial that the men shot Lawson and Wells in self-defense. Attorneys for both say they will appeal the jury’s decision.

McNerney said the district attorney’s office did not seek the death penalty in this case because it was never determined which of the defendants did the killing.

Lawson’s mother, Katie Asaki, who is raising Lawson’s three children, was pleased with the sentences.

“This is exactly what I had hoped for,” she said.

A third defendant, Salvatore Islas, pleaded guilty in January to two counts of voluntary manslaughter.

He was recently sentenced to 19 years in prison for his role in the crime.
