Sutanto Brothers Set National Swim Records

The Sutanto brothers, Alex and Felix, broke two national records and three state records as Golden West remained in first place after the second day of the state community college men’s swimming championships Friday at Ventura College.
Felix Sutanto won the 100 backstroke with a national community college record time of 48.91, surpassing the previous record of 49.93. Felix Sutanto also set a state record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:48.85. The previous record was 1:50.69.
Alex Sutanto set a national record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.63. The previous record was 49.02.
The Sutantos teamed with Audy Oktavian and Aaron Fitterer to win the 200 medley relay in 1:32.12, breaking Golden West’s 1997 record of 1:32.59. Chris Burres, Vicha Ratanachote and the Sutantos broke the state record in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:46.65.
Ratanachote also won the 200 freestyle (1:39.48) and Oktavian won the 100 breaststroke (57.59) as Golden West finished the day with a 152-point lead.
Orange Coast is in fourth.
Golden West’s women’s team, which led after the first day, fell to third in the women’s championships. Riverside (238.50) is in first place, with Orange Coast (227) in second.
Golden West’s Rebecca Levine, Emily Hagen, April Kidd and Lisa Saenz won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.0.

Jaeger advances to state tournament--Orange Coast’s Camella Jaeger defeated Corina Badgett of San Bernardino Valley, 6-3, 6-1, to advance to the state championships Friday in Claremont.
