“The Great Egyptians II” / 5 and 8 p.m. TLC

Following up on his 1997 documentaries about Tutankahmen, Cleopatra and lesser-known Sneferu, Egyptologist Bob Brier returns with another three-part series about legendary leaders. Brier, who has spent more than 20 years exploring the ruins of ancient Egypt, sheds light on a trio of pharaohs: Ramses the Great, who may have confronted Moses and the Israelites; Akhenaten, who founded a new religion, and Hatshepsut, the first woman to sit in the throne after 1,000 years of male rulers.

“Second Annual Latino Laugh Festival” / 8 p.m. Showtime

Do the names Chris Fonseca, George Lopez, Willie Barcena and Carlos Mencia mean much to you? What about Culture Clash or Rudy Moreno? If your answer is no, check out the 90-minute showcase for these top Latino comics assembled by producers Jeff Valdez and Paul Block. The more familiar faces of Jimmy Smits, Paul Rodriguez, Maria Conchita Alonso, Hector Elizondo, Liz Torres and Edward James Olmos also participate in the special hosted by Cheech Marin in San Antonio.

“The Last Don II” / 9 p.m. CBS; concludes Tuesday

Can’t we all just get along? If that was the case, there would be no conflict in this two-part sequel to last year’s Mafia hit. This time, the death of aged Don Clericuzio (Danny Aiello) triggers power plays among the other crime families in New York. Reluctantly coming to the rescue is the Don’s peace-loving nephew Cross (Jason Gedrick), who thought he could walk away from the mayhem. (Obviously he never rented “The Godfather.”) Patsy Kensit co-stars as an FBI agent who infiltrates the family and falls for Cross.

“In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great” / 9 p.m. KCET; concludes Tuesday

By the age of 30, he had conquered the known world, forging an empire stretching from the Balkans to India. The remarkable story of ruthless warrior and brilliant strategist Alexander III is told anew in this four-hour PBS documentary hosted by filmmaker Michael Wood (“Art of the Western World”). Wood’s adventure begins in Greece, where he traces the 20,000-mile route of 21-year-old Alexander and his formidable forces as they set out to overthrow the Persian Empire.

“Labor of Love” / 9 p.m. Lifetime

Annie (Marcia Gay Harden) is a flaky artist from Texas whose biological clock is ticking loudly. Mickey (David Marshall Grant) is a sensitive gay man and recovering alcoholic losing loved ones to AIDS. Each is anxious to raise a child, but what are these best friends to do? Anyone enrolled in Screenwriting 101 will know how this predictable TV movie plays out, particularly when the film introduces a handsome Irish journalist (Daniel Hugh Kelly) who captures Annie’s heart.

Tuesday

“Lie Detector” / 9 p.m. Fox

The network that gave us “Busted on the Job,” “The World’s Scariest Police Chases” and “Surviving the Moment of Impact” serves up yet another reality-based special with franchise potential. In this hour hosted by O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark, high-profile figures Mark Fuhrman, James Nichols (the brother of convicted Oklahoma City conspirator Terry Nichols) and Tonya Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Stone (formerly Gillooly) take a polygraph test to prove their innocence. Would we lie to you?

Thursday

“Friends” / 8 p.m. NBC

It’s that time of year when the season finales of prime-time favorites come at us fast and furiously. Closing out its fourth season (where have the years gone?), this pleasurable Peacock comedy plops the pals in London for a one-hour show. Joey (Matt LeBlanc) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) go sightseeing, Monica frets about spinsterdom, Phoebe stays in New York and Ross makes it to the church on time for his wedding. But there’s a last-minute hitch when Rachel suddenly turns up. After all, what are friends for?

Friday

“Homicide: Life on the Street” / 10 p.m. NBC

Another pivotal season finale finds the Baltimore homicide unit pulling out all the stops to bring down the Mahoney crew. Last week, partners Ballard (Callie Thorne) and Gharty (Peter Gerety) were wounded by gunfire in the squad room. This week, Bayliss (Kyle Secor) and Pembleton (Andre Braugher) are caught in more crossfire, while Kellerman (Reed Diamond) has his day of reckoning. It’s bound to be a bittersweet show for fans, who already know this is the last episode for the departing Braugher and Diamond.
