Statistically Speaking

Share

Nine times this season, the Times has ranked the high school baseball teams in the region. In all nine polls, either Chatsworth or Hart has been No. 1.

Chatsworth began the season at No. 1, then Hart took over for two weeks at the beginning of April.

Chatsworth regained the top spot in mid-April and has held it for the last three weeks. In the past five polls, the Chancellors (22-2) and Indians (20-3) have held exclusive control of the top two spots.

Though a playoff meeting between the teams is impossible because Chatsworth plays in the City Section and Hart plays in the Southern Section, we couldn’t help but wonder who would win a game between what are undeniably the top two teams in the Valley/Ventura County region.

So we’ve statistically compared each batter against each other--depending where in the lineup they hit--and each teams’ top three pitchers.

Each player with a statistical edge was given a point [*]. Ties [^] count for half a point each.
