Zodiac Loses Lead, Then Game in Shootout

The Vancouver 86ers scored on three of four attempts in a shootout to beat the Zodiac, 2-1, in A-League soccer Sunday at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, British Columbia.

The Zodiac scored first when P.J. Polowski booted a 30-yard shot over the head of keeper Paul Van-Dolan in the 52nd minute. Four minutes later, Vancouver’s Steve Kindel tied the score after he headed the ball in on teammate Chris Franks’ shot.

The Zodiac botched scoring opportunities when Mark Foster missed a penalty kick in the 38th minute and Eddie Soto sent a free kick off the post in the 70th minute.

Mike Littman had seven saves for the Zodiac (4-2) and Van-Dolan had five for the 86ers (4-2).
