Northridge’s Morton 11th in Decathlon

Sophomore Josh Morton of Cal State Northridge finished 11th in the decathlon in the Big Sky Conference track and field championships at Weber State on Thursday.

Morton, who did not score any points in the high jump when he failed to clear a height Wednesday, totaled 4,933 points.

Troy McDonough of Montana won with 7,473 points, followed by Stevie Keller of Montana State at 7,286 and Randy Vanover of Idaho State at 7,057.

Finals in 13 events, including the women’s shotput and the men’s discus, will be held today.

Northridge senior Beth Burton and sophomore teammates Christina Tolson and Cheree Hicks are ranked first, second and third on the conference list in the women’s shotput.

Matador junior Billy Bush is top-ranked in the men’s discus.
