Sunny Hills track senior Sunny Nicholas, who had a stress fracture in her foot, is finished for the season.

She was injured at the Southern Section Division III track and field preliminaries at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach.

Nicholas, who was the Freeway League’s candidate for girls’ Orange County Athlete of the Year, said she felt a pop in her right foot while winning a heat of the 300 hurdles. She had also qualified for this weekend’s divisional championships in the 100 hurdles.
