“Nora,” Ingmar Bergman’s contemporary adaptation of Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House,” about a young wife’s journey toward freedom and self-realization, opens the La Jolla Playhouse’s 1998 season.

An exhibition of three monumental color photographs by influential photographer Lewis Baltz opens Sunday at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Best known for his cool minimalist photographs of bleak landscapes in the 1970s and ‘80s, Baltz, in his current work, explores issues related to technology, globalism and the human body.

Noon: Jazz-Reggae

It’s outdoors and it’s free: The two-day UCLA JazzReggae Festival features jazz on the first day with Latin-minded trumpeter-percussionist Jerry Gonzalez and the Fort Apache Band, pianist Eric Reed’s trio, San Francisco-reared saxophonist Peter Apfelbaum and his Hieroglyphics Society, Billy Higgins’ Leimert Park Drum Ensemble and others. Reggae is the focus of the second day with the Mighty Diamonds, Michael Rose, Born Jamericans, Boom Shaka and others.

“Seems Like Old Times,” “I’ll Be Seeing You,” “Comin’ In on a Wing and a Prayer”--celebrate Memorial Day by adding your voice to a nostalgic journey through the music of World War I and II, as the adult sing-along group Sing! Sing! Sing! welcomes family participation at its fifth annual commemorative program of ballads, patriotic songs and big-band classics. The event features commentary, a Frank Sinatra tribute and an appearance by the Boogie Woogie Bugle Girls.

Symphony in the Glen and three choral groups (Cantori Domino, West Hollywood Chorale and Glendale Seventh Day Adventist Academy Choir) perform Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Griffith Park, conducted by Arthur B. Rubinstein. This family concert opens the summer season of the 63-member orchestra.
