Sophomore Kevin Hansen had 46 assists and nine kills to carry the Sea Kings (13-5) past the Celts in a Division III semifinal at Newport Harbor High.
“Corona del Mar has too much firepower,” Crespi Coach Alvin Lamarre said. “They are very solid and have great ball control. They were a lot better than they looked on tape.”
Outside hitter Greg Stampley and middle blocker Greg Coon led a balanced attack that wore out Crespi (16-4). Stampley and Coon each finished with 15 kills.
The Corona del Mar-Santa Ynez final will be a rematch of last season.
