Printing Deadline Forces 2 Separate Ballots

Share

Hoping to avoid confusion on election day, Long Beach City officials are reminding voters that they will have two separate ballots Tuesday: one for city elections and one for county and state.

“The city of Long Beach has a ballot printing deadline which will make it too late to get it onto the [state and county] ballot,” Greg Davy, a city spokesman, said.

The city’s ballot will offer voters a chance to choose a new city prosecutor and decide runoff elections for the 3rd and 5th Council Districts.

Deputy City Atty. Tom Reeves and Assistant City Prosecutor Robert Recknagel are running for city prosecutor. The candidates for the council’s 3rd District are businessmen Frank Colonna and Henry Meyer. Jackie Kell, an educator, and Brian J. Young, a legislative advocate, are vying in the 5th District.

The city’s ballot also will include Proposition R, which seeks to eliminate matching campaign funds for qualified candidates.

Results of the city elections will be available on election night in City Council chambers at City Hall and by phone at (562) 570-6101.
