Nordhoff’s Canchola Commits to UCLA
Elaine Canchola of Nordhoff High, a two-time state cross-country champion, has committed to UCLA.
Canchola, who won the state Division III cross-country title in 1995 and the state Division IV race last November, chose UCLA over Arizona.
Canchola won a record four Southern Section cross-country titles during her career in addition to three Southern Section Division III titles in track and two Masters Meet championships in the 1,600 meters.
She has personal bests of 4:55.07 in the 1,600 and 10:45.84 in the 3,200.
She placed sixth in the 1,600 in the 1997 state championships and has qualified for the state championships at Cerritos College on Friday and Saturday in that event and in the 3,200.
