Bailey Leads Irvine Past Santa Barbara

Ryan Bailey scored a career-high eight goals to lead UC Irvine, ranked third in the nation, past ninth-ranked UC Santa Barbara, 9-5, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s water polo game Sunday at Heritage Park.
Bailey leads the conference with 70 goals. Irvine improved to 14-5, 3-1 in conference. Santa Barbara is 6-11, 0-7.
In exhibition women’s basketball:
Cal State Fullerton 87, Riverland Raiders (Australia) 65--Andrea Theime had 20 points and eight assists for Fullerton.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s soccer:
Cal State Fullerton 4, UC Santa Barbara 1--Colby Jackson scored two goals for host Fullerton (12-4-1, 5-1).
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 3, UC Irvine 2 (OT)--James Newton scored the game-winner in the 109th minute for Cal Poly (9-5-2, 4-2). Mike Margeson and Pat Lee scored for host Irvine (8-9, 2-4).
In nonconference women’s soccer:
UC Irvine 1, San Diego State 1--Trailing at halftime, the visiting Anteaters (13-3-3) salvaged a tie with the 10th-ranked Aztecs (15-2-1) after Nicole Bucciarelli scored off an assist from Danica Holt in the 60th minute.
At the Cal State Fullerton women’s tennis tournament:
Seymour wins--UC Irvine’s Jonni Seymour defeated teammate Darian Chappel, 6-1, 6-0, to win the singles title.
