CHP Officer Recovering After Being Hit by Car
A California Highway Patrol officer was recovering Monday after his cruiser was hit by a car driven by a suspected drunken driver. The officer was investigating a crash on the Orange Freeway when he was struck.
The 32-year-old officer, whose name was not released, was treated at UCI Medical Center for neck and back pain.
The officer had been talking to a tow truck driver on the southbound side of the freeway near Orangewood Avenue when the vehicle hit his patrol car about 2 a.m., according to the CHP.
Officers arrested Arturo Aguilar, 32, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the CHP said.
