Donations Sought for Baja Orphanage
Saddleback College’s Faculty Assn. is seeking donations of clothing, money and food for La Puerta de Fe orphanage in Baja California.
The orphanage is home to about 90 children, infants to teenagers. Robert Kopfstein, a literature instructor at Saddleback, has been leading students and other teachers on one-day trips to the orphanage twice yearly since 1983.
The items most needed tend to be either too expensive or too hard to find in Mexico, Kopfstein said. This trip’s special request is cake mix, which the orphanage will use to make the children’s birthdays special.
Regular items needed include nonperishable food, clothing, toiletries, linens and school supplies. Cash donations are welcomed.
Items can be dropped off at Kopfstein’s office, room 315 in the business general studies building, Saddleback College, 28000 Marguerite Parkway. Information: (949) 582-4827.
