Transportation Aid Offered to Agencies
Local agencies that serve seniors and the disabled can get federal funding to buy vans and other transportation equipment, the Ventura County Transportation Commission said.
Under the Elderly and Disabled Transit Program, agencies can receive up to 80% of the purchase price of accessible vans, buses and other transportation equipment to serve individuals with special needs.
The federal funds, totaling about $7 million, are allocated by the California Department of Transportation and directed locally by the county Transportation Commission, based on a statewide competitive process.
Private nonprofit organizations and agencies seeking funds must submit an interest form by Nov. 16.
