Van Damme Cleared in Suit Over ‘Quest’
A jury has cleared actor Jean-Claude Van Damme of breach of contract allegations in a lawsuit filed against him by martial arts expert Frank Dux, who had claimed he should share the profits from the action star’s 1991 movie “The Quest.”
The panel decided late Monday that Van Damme did not break his word to Dux, who claimed that the movie was similar to a manuscript he co-wrote called “Enter the New Dragon.”
“If you remember ‘Rocky,’ he didn’t win his first fight either,” Dux said after the verdict, indicating his plan to appeal. Dux had sought $1.5 million.
